Repository¶
Purpose¶
Define how the product repository acts as the source of truth.
Source of truth¶
The GitLab repository is the authoritative record for the product's code, tests, documentation, and delivery assets.
Required repository qualities¶
- The repository must be cloneable by approved developers and agents
- The default branch should be clearly identified
- The repository should include a readable entry page for developers
- The product structure should make source, tests, build logic, and docs easy to find
- Generated output should not be mistaken for source unless the repository explicitly states otherwise
Standard project structure¶
A product repository should make room for:
- Application source
- Tests
- Documentation
- Build and release scripts
- Runtime and deployment assets
- Product-specific instructions
PDP.md¶
PDP.md is the product-level developer and agent instruction document.
Canonical location:
<product-repository>/PDP.md
It should contain a standardized structure such as:
- Product Identity
- Product Purpose
- Architecture Reference
- Repository and Workspace
- Development
- Build
- Test
- Runtime Configuration
- Deployment
- Health Checks
- Monitoring
- Security Constraints
- Product-Specific Rules
- AI Agent Instructions
It must not replace PMP-001, PMP-002, PMP-003, or PMP-004.
Git remote configuration¶
The repository remote should be configured so that the developer workspace tracks the GitLab repository as the origin.
