CI/CD¶
Purpose¶
Define how GitLab CI/CD supports product validation, build, release, and deployment.
Responsibilities¶
- GitLab CI/CD runs automated validation
- GitLab CI/CD can produce build artifacts
- GitLab CI/CD can assist with release and deployment workflows when the product uses that model
- CI/CD should be the repeatable automation layer, not a substitute for product review
Gate model¶
CI/CD should enforce or record the relevant gates for:
- Validation
- Build
- Test
- Release candidate
- Release
- Deployment
Expectations¶
- CI should fail visibly when checks fail
- Pipeline results should be easy to interpret
- Release or deployment actions should be traceable
- Production deployment should not occur without the defined release and deployment gate
