AI-Assisted Development¶
PotatoLabs uses code-server with AI development agents such as Codex and Claude.
Preflight checklist¶
Before modifying a repository, an AI development agent MUST:
- Read the applicable PMP standards.
- Read the repository README or equivalent entry page.
- Read
PDP.mdif present. - Inspect the repository structure.
- Understand the requested scope.
- Identify relevant architecture constraints.
- Implement only the approved scope.
- Run applicable tests and validation.
- Inspect the resulting diff.
- Report changes and validation results.
This is the canonical AI preflight checklist for PotatoLabs. PMP-004 applies this checklist to product repositories and product-specific instructions without duplicating it.
Allowed AI agent activities¶
AI agents may:
- Inspect the repository
- Implement code according to approved requirements
- Run formatting, linting, tests, and builds
- Inspect git status and diffs
- Help prepare documentation and validation evidence
AI agent guardrails¶
AI agents should not:
- Silently change architecture
- Introduce dependencies without justification
- Expose secrets
- Commit or push unless explicitly instructed
- Override product, engineering, or architecture standards
- Bypass CI, release, or deployment gates
Standards hierarchy¶
- Architectural changes must follow PMP-001
- Development lifecycle expectations must follow PMP-003 when applicable
- Product integration must follow PMP-004 when applicable
